If i had no language would i have no thoughts?

What is the evolution of language? We have a genetic capacity for language, but which came first? If we evoloved language prior to our capacity, then why our we unique? if our capacity came first, then what was its orginal purpose? The abstract mind creaates a simulation of reality interanally. IT is this that we call consiuosness. Yet this simulation was created solely and compleatly by langouage. Robbed of all language, we are reduced to mere emotion driven animals. What did we think about prior to langauge or could we think at all? Was the creation of a language, as a genetic tool for communal hunting/survival, create an accidental path ot consiousness.

The speed of time...

Beyond the standard questions about time there is the issue of speed. I do not mean the speed of light or the like. There is a particuale speed that humand are tuned for. We do not see bullets travel in space, we do not see plants grow, we can not see mounters rise and fall. We see hours, days...we know of, but do not truly "see" years. But once we are beyond the confins a single lifetime, once the tie of firsthand experance passes, we know longer "see" or truly understand time. It is an aspect of quallia that both defined the "human" experance and limits it. WE may witness timelapse video or animated simulations, but this is mearly translating "non-human" time to something managable. But in the same way a scetch can similarly translate the enormaty of a high-rise, it totally looses it orignal grandure and meaning.

The Trianry thoery of substance/self/reality

There are three parts to "our" world. There is th material universe (MU), the genetic self(GS) and the abstract mind(AM).
The material universe exists independent of ourselfs, it is the trees in the cambrian forest; i have no way of knowing they exist but i acknowledge that there is a world exest extrernal to self.
The genetic self is the only material reality that we may know directly, that exists both independent of self and as an extetion of self in the material universe. The mind knows all of the external world via the genetic self, it has no capacity to experience the material directly but only thoguht the mediatio of the genetic self (the flesh)
The Abstract universe is that which thought existes, and only thought. It is the solipsistic universe, the simulation in the machine. Like a simulation, if may seem real to the object running the program. Does the computer know the WarCraft is a game or is it reality to it. Optical regonition software approximate the idea of perserving sendoriy data from the opital organ (the hardware of the computer is the gentetic self) of a room (the materail universe) and seeing a room, a table, a world (the abstract univerve). It is not that we are playing a simulation of the material world, we ARE the simulation, the combination of our genetic self (Body = hardware/PC) and our adbstract mind (mind = software/program) creates the simulation and the players of this game is the universe itself.
It is this the abstract mind that creates qualia. Even if we assume (and we can only do this, although with much confidence) there is a persitant substancance material world external to us and our experance, We all sence it thought our own unigue biologal organs, which will never give a complete duplicative redision. BUT even if we assume that what we experence is a duplicative one, our manifistation of that data in our abstract universe, the only on we KNOW, the experance of that data will be the unigue interpritation of our solipisitic world, created not by will but but the continual accumulation, interpitatotion, manipulation, deterioration and temporal existance. There is no absolute experance of Dog, everyone has a unique and particular abstract consept of dog, the product of there unique path though time and space.

So why is it possible people can communicate? if the abstract exist only in the mind, they how can anyone learn or transmit them?

Sequentially depended and independent time...

There are two kinds of past events, those that have sequential important and those that do not.

Those that have sequential important, such as birth, life and death could not happen in any other order and that their order imparts meaning beyond the events themself...ie you.

Those that have not sequential important are sleep, eat and work. Our bodied demand we perform the first 2 and society the last, but the order that these events occur have no consequence, they could happen in any order.

Sequentially dependent events are the current of the river of time, and the sequentially independent are akin to the eddies.

Now, are the sequentially depend more than those independent?

Time as change....

Time, if it exists at all, is that tipping point, that spark, the instantaneous moment when apple becomes pie, man becomes corps, or egg becomes life. It is not past or present; it is now. More than now, it is the link between states of being. They can be an instant or last generations, they are short as they can be and as long as they must be.

A past devoid of time...

We said; in some discussions that time is change. Time is the measure of time. So, if an apple becomes a pie, it has, according to most, done so in time; that change itself being time incarnate.

But "the past" is the antithesis of change. Once made into a pie, it is no more possible for that apple to change in any other way. If change is time, then the past must be devoid of it, for no past event is mutable.

By that same thread, we might say that future as also devoid of time...why?

Does the quark know what time it is?

First we must ask, what is a thing?
We all believe that we travel thought time...its seems a priori knowledge. If we were adrift somehow in the void of space, we would still "feel" time...we "aged".
What do we mean by aged?
We experience time by aging; that is the growth and decay or our bodied as we mature to adult hood and decay into death. As our skins cells divide, grow and die. In fact if one did not do this, if one were somehow exempt form aging. If ones body did not change, the term ageless or timeless would be appropriate. If we further added, that, as stated earlier, that we were floating in the void of space, not only were we ageless but our experience would also be devoid of time. One would say that, if such a condition where "eternal" or never changed...perhaps could never change, the idea of time would be at least meaningless and at most shown, in this mental universe, nonexistent.

Now that we have established that (to what ever assuredly) lets look deeper.

Are you a thing or are you, more or less, a particular collection of atoms? A collection of atoms.

So, although one might say "YOU" change with time, does the atoms that compose you, do they age?
Is the carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, et all "older" at death than at your birth?

Well let’s say that the electrons that form your atoms move, cosmic radiation may cause atoms to break apart and decay and that is a form of "aging"

What about the Quarks that make up the atomic partials? As far as science knows, they can not change; there are the ageless in the sense of our earlier thought experiment.

What about the world they exist in?

There is no nations other than Canada!

Squamish “Nation” plans to build huge billboard signs next to roads, on land it controls in spite of legal, ethical and safety concerns. They are being sponsored by All Vision<>. They plan to 8 sign in north and west Van, and 5 next to the Burrard Bridge. The signs are 10.97x3.05m and should be erected by 2007.

Syrians real problem with the UN

Syria threatens to close border with Lebanon if UN peace keepers are deployed there according to Finish foreign minister on 2006.08.23

Service cuts, Conservative style

There is more than one way to deny support. The Supporting Communities Partnership Initiative has short changed social housing and similar agencies millions of dollars. 11 agencies in London On., as told ot NDP MP Irene Mathyssn, of $376,000 and 21 agencies in Toronto are shorted $5.8 million.

Fulun Gong is an evil cult

Falun Gong should not be given any special treatment. I understand that in a free society we can not unduly repress people point of view no matter how repulsive they may be. We could allow neo-Nazi groups the right to demonstrate provided they fell with in the requirements of the law. But most people would not allow them special right that we might give to AIDS suffers caused by USA neo-con policies in Africa, or a people protesting the Israeli collective punishment of the Palestinians/Lebanese. Falun Gong may be persecuted in China, and so the should be, in the same way that any cult of hate should be. Anyone who does any research into the cults belief system and idea would quickly see that what china is fighting is on par with Pol Pot and the Khmer Rough. China has a justifiable fear of this kind of reactionary cult.
Fulun Gong is an evil cult because…..
Does this mean a support the human rights abuses of China, even against Falun Gong? No, but it is possible to decry both. I think Falun Gong should be made illegal in the same way other hate groups are, and I think we should amplify our attempts at reforming China as her ally and friend. Much the same we have tried with the US. We in Canada, and the west in general, have the bad habit brought about during the struggles of the cold war to believe that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and that is not true. Sometime the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy. Selecting ones enemies can be as important as selecting ones friends.

InSite Fight back

The Portland Hotel Society, responsible for overseeing the InSite safe injection site, said they “Feel morally and legally obligated to attempt to keep it open” in the midst of Conservative plans to shut the site down. Support has come from Alana Klein, Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, and Bull, Houser and Tupper, that they would have a good case made under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The power behind the garbage...

Who really benefits from the Pitt Meadows garbage incinerator power plant? Is it really a public enterprise or is it a public front for a corporation.

A new Tax system

Simplify the Tax system. Everyone pays in, no deductions. Grant giving for need or “services” rendered.

Taxing Governments

Governments paying other government taxes. The move by the Mayor of Pitt Meadows, Don MacLean, to get a PST exemption of capital expenses, in particular a power plant.

Olympics, BC style

The 2010 Olympics. It was suppose to cost the tax payer (and the majority of them are middle income and below) a fixed amount but I appears that the BC Liberials and Campbell’s cronies are fudging the numbers by getting other government departments to donate or pay for Olympic felicities so they do not appear in the official costs.

To the last I grapple with thee

Ahab, Captain
"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!"

Novel: Moby Dick: Or, The Whale, Herman Mehlville, 1851

The Falacy fo tax cutting

Tax Cuts always:

  • Benefit the wealth most

  • Barely benefit the middle

  • Rarely benefit the poor.

Tax cut are always offset by:

  • Either a reduction of services, usually benefiting the less off in society

  • Increase in user fees, and indirect tax on the poor, again the ones who tend to need the services

  • Redistribution of taxation from the rich to the poor, usually by offering tax loop holes for the investor whish are not available for the worker.
The movement of taxation from corporation, defined as people by law (that's just sick), to the workers. In the 1960's business's share of tax revenue was...

Tax strikes

Are we free to pay only those taxes we agree with and refuse those we disagree with on moral grounds, like for the military. But what would you do about tax cuts you dislike?

losing the Free press...

BC Ferries told Georgia Strait to remove its boxes from ferry terminals.
Because it had signed an exclusive deal to a distribution company for the display of free publications.
This was done with out a public tender. Emma Coombe, manager of BC FerriesMartin Crilly, commissioner of BC Ferries
Contract given to Pacific Newspaper group owned by CanWest Modia Works owned by CanWest Global Communications Corp.
The decision to contract out this exclusivity contract was done without public or stakeholder consultation.
I wonder if there was some payola, either to civil servants, or politicians

organ harvesting

Chinese organ harvesting from executed prisoners, many of whom are Falun Gong. Is it not better to make use of these organs if they can help people? Do not confuse the positive of taking advantage of the organs of the executed with distaste for politically motivated imprisonment, no the true crime here is the execution of anyone or is it?

Falun Gong, cult of hate

Falun Gong, a hate religion being suppressed by government of china. Those who hate the government of china are willing to support anyone who is against them; first it was the Taiwan, then South Korea, then South Vietnam, then Tibet, and now Falun Gong. http://www.religioustolerance.org/falungong1.htm#hom (they are nutters)
Of the 60,000 organ transplants the China Medical Organ Transplant Association recorded between 2000 and 2005, 18,500 of those organs came from identifiable sources, said the report."That leaves 41,500 transplants from no other explained sources," Matas said during a news conference Thursday in Ottawa.

The Fallacy of Activist judges

So Stephen Harper ( the americain governor of Canada) rules like Bush, he also believes that it is not enough for politicians to write the laws, they must also their interpreter, that they are more impartial and judicious than…JUDGES. Harper, like Bush, references to our Supreme Court Justices as judicial activists. This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of any legal system (and I think Harper not that dumb. Bush…maybe) or a contempt for the will of the people. Why you say this? The parliamentarians are elected by the people (hahaha …) so are they not the ultimate voice of the people…yes and no. Our legal system is set up to ensure the laws past are the TRUE will of the people and not a current whim, a misunderstand or the direct manipulation of those in temporary power (I hope this last is true for the conservatives, emphasis on temporary), this means once laws are past they are interpreted by the professionals, the judges. If they will of the people changes, then the laws are changed, and they judges will then respond by interpreting the laws

The enemy of my enemy…

Martin Luther King - Altruism

“Capitalism makes us more concerned about the economic security of the captains of industry than for the labouring men whose sweat and skills keep industry functioning”
(142) M. L. King in “Strength to love” for “on being a food neighbour” in
Ethical Issues in interpersonal communications
(isbn 0-15-508257-4)

“In dangerous valleys and hazardous pathways, he will lift some bruised and beaten brother to a higher and more noble life” (144)

“True altruism is more than the capacity to pity it is the capacity to sympathize. Pity may represent little more than the impersonal concern which prompts the mailing of a check, but true sympathy is the personal concern which demand the giving of one’s soul” (144)

“Philanthropy is commendable, but it must not cause the philanthropist to overlook the circumstances of economic injustice which make philanthropy necessary”(143)

Neo-Nixonism

The Bush and in general politics (at least on the right, and in the US that is the majority of politics) has moved more and strongly to the creation of a Fascist State. I do not think there will be mass killings like we saw in Nazi Germany and Stalinist USSR, but then again it may be an inevitable. How many Arabs have dies in the name of national security? And was that not the reasoning for killing the Jews? The Kulaks?

Frost:
So what in a sense, you're saying is that there are certain situations, and the Huston Plan or that part of it was one of them, where the president can decide that it's in the best interests of the nation or something, and do something illegal.
NIXON:
Well, when the president does it that means that it is not illegal.
FROST:
By definition.
NIXON:
Exactly. Exactly. If the president, for example, approves something because of the national security, or in this case because of a threat to internal peace and order of significant magnitude, then the president's decision in that instance is one that enables those who carry it out, to carry it out without violating a law. Otherwise they're in an impossible position.
FROST:
So, that in other words, really you were saying in that answer, really, between the burglary and murder, again, there's no subtle way to say that there was murder of a dissenter in this country because I don't know any evidence to that effect at all. But, the point is: just the dividing line, is that in fact, the dividing line is the president's judgment?
NIXON:
Yes, and the dividing line and, just so that one does not get the impression, that a president can run amok in this country and get away with it, we have to have in mind that a president has to come up before the electorate. We also have to have in mind, that a president has to get appropriations from the Congress. We have to have in mind, for example, that as far as the CIA's covert operations are concerned, as far as the FBI's covert operations are concerned, through the years, they have been disclosed on a very, very limited basis to trusted members of Congress. I don't know whether it can be done today or not.

If it was not clear, the counsel for Nixon put it plainly"The President wants me to argue that he is as powerful a monarch as Louis XIV, only four years at a time, and is not subject to the processes of any court in the land except the court of impeachment."
— James D. St. Clair, Richard Nixon's counsel, arguing before the Supreme Court

This view is the current running philosophy of Bush administration thanks to the efforts of Alberto R. Gonzales, counsel to President Bush, and his Justice Department.

“The past few years have seen many of the most sweeping claims of executive power advanced by Gonzales overturned, repudiated, or dismantled. Under the circumstances, the Senate should probe carefully whether an Attorney General Gonzales would understand and act within these legal limits as the White House undertakes the many difficult challenges the war on terrorism still presents.”
Deborah Pearlstein Nov. 23, 2004 The American Prospect
